What Indicators Does amg Use?
I absolutely love charting and have literally hundreds of experiments and variations on the basics. However, even though I've tried all sorts of methods and approaches, it seems I always return to a small set of tools.
My chart presentation always be evolving, but I can say I use these basic tools: RSI, Regression Channels/MA, fibs or eighths, Alan Box, and bisects. I've recently added ADX (see this article), but in a minimal form, and only on higher timeframes. My use of regression channels is, I think, an interesting approach, and I'll be sharing it eventually as time allows. Here is a recent Nikkei 800 Volume Bar chart as an example.
I do use MAs, but, again, in a somewhat less conventional manner. I owe much to rabbit for opening the world of MAs to me, see rabbit's X-Swing template for example. It is a highly visual approach and one that, curiously enough, can teach a novice trader to better understand macro price action, ie, not the classic bar-by-bar reading, rather, the cyclical flow of price.
A Comment on Color
Ensign allows one to start with a default and not only modify it with ones technical preferences, but also tinker with the visual presentation. My eyes are easily irritated, so I long ago took advantage of going to muted pastel backgrounds rather than black, or white, which is perhaps more typical. You may have to tinker with the colors on these templates as they are biased to a lighter background. I'll admit to changing my color scheme regularly and rotate between Charcoal, K&E Green, British Tan, and pale Teal.
